NPR news anchor ANN TAYLOR, a 21-year veteran of the network, will leave the network effective JUNE 30th, reports MEDIABISTRO's FISHBOWLDC. The memo sent to staffers at the network said that TAYLOR, who anchors the bottom-of-the-hour newscasts on "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED," is exiting due to a desire to end her long-distance weekly commute to NPR headquarters in WASHINGTON from her NEW YORK home.
The memo indicates that TAYLOR, who joined NPR in AUGUST 1989 from NBC NEWS and previously anchored at WTOP-A and WTOP-TV (now WUSA-TV)/WASHINGTON and WATE-A-TV/KNOXVILLE, will continue to fill in at the network.
