SHERMAN KIZART, Managing Dir. of KIZART MEDIA PARTNERS, headed a discussion between Rev. JESSE JACKSON, FCC Commissioner ROBERT McDOWELL, top radio executives, the head of several major agency buying companies and the 4As Media Policy Committee in NEW YORK. KIZART said the objective was to find a collaborative way to bring more advertisers to minority-targeted stations.
"This issue is an ongoing one, having to do with the 'No-Urban/No-Hispanic Dictates' policy," KIZART said.
"While the spirit of the meeting was one of togetherness, further clarification is needed. The FCC has already made its position known. It has finally added a question on the new license renewal form, asking stations to certify that they’re not a party to discrimination that might be practiced by agencies and/or buyers of advertising," KIZART added. “The proofs going to be in what the deliverables are.”
