FCC, Z100/New York Reach Consent Decree Over Phone Call Airings

CLEAR CHANNEL's AMFM RADIO LICENSES, LLC has reached a Consent Decree with the FCC over recording and airing telephone conversations without the other party's authorization over Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK. The Commission received two complaints about similar incidents on MARCH 27th, 2006 and FEBRUARY 21st, 2007.
CLEAR CHANNEL will make a "voluntary contribution" of $20,000 to the U.S. Treasury to settle the matter.
FCC Warns More Alleged Pirates
The Commission also served notice on several more alleged pirate station operators, including BRANDON SIMS (100.3 FM, MARION, IL); AUDIE RAY MORROW and SANDRA JEAN MORROW (1610 AM, CASA GRANDE, AZ); GREGORY C. SCHULLER, JR. and SADIE M. SCHULLER (1610 AM, ARIZONA CITY, AZ); and WILLIS CERNOGG (90.7 FM, MIAMI).
