Steve Popovich Passes

Music industry veteran STEVE POPOVICH has died TODAY (6/8) from what is believed to be a heart attack. He would have been 70 in JULY.
For many years he was with COLUMBIA and then EPIC RECORDS working closely RON ALEXENBURG, first in promotion and then A&R. In 1977, he founded CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL RECORDS and helped to guide the career of MEATLOAF, among others. In 1986, he became Sr. VP at POLYGRAM/NASHVILLE. He returned as president of CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL RECORDS in 1995. Most recently, he had been working with bands in a management and/or producer capacity.
POPOVICH had been involved as co-producer and/or label in six GRAMMY nominations and the winner of two.
