ARBITRON has added the Hudson Valley to its roster of radio ratings markets. The new HUDSON VALLEY market, consisting of four NEW YORK counties, WESTCHESTER, ROCKLAND, PUTNAM and ORANGE, currently has estimated population of 1,471,000 persons age 12 and older, placing the market at rank number 38 among the SPRING 2011 roster of 280+ markets.
Since ARBITRON updates the population estimates for its radio markets each SEPTEMBER, the market ranks for the Fall 2011 survey are not yet finalized.
ARBITRON will measure the new HUDSON VALLEY radio market twice each year, beginning with the FALL 2011 survey, which is scheduled from SEPTEMBER 15th through DECEMBER 7th. Results from the FALL 2011 quarterly survey are slated to be available in JANUARY 2012.
"The HUDSON VALLEY has always been a very important region for the business of our clients," said COMPASS POINT MEDIA VP/Associate Director of Market Investments CAROL J. GROTHEM. "We are pleased to see that ARBITRON is recognizing its value by adding HUDSON VALLEY to the list of measured radio markets. The new ratings reports will certainly be a helpful resource as we plan and negotiate the market for our client’s business for the future."
"HUDSON VALLEY is an vital area of commerce in the northern portion of the NEW YORK Metro area. It boasts a lifestyle and media profile that is distinct from the 5 boroughs of NEW YORK CITY, said ARBITRON EVP/Sale And Marketing CAROL HANLEY. "It encompasses the distinct, affluent residents north of the city, similar to the way the NASSAU-SUFFOLK, MONMOUTH-OCEAN and MIDDLESEX-SOMERSET-UNION markets capture this consumer base to the south and east."
