New WDUQ/Pittsburgh Management Rehires 11 Staffers

Eleven of the twenty staffers scheduled to be laid off by DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY Jazz WDUQ/PITTSBURGH in preparation for the station's takeover and flip to News-Talk by ESSENTIAL PUBLIC MEDIA on JULY 1st have been rehired by the new management, according to the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE's ADRIAN MCCOY.
The returnees will include Jazz hosts BOB STUDEBAKER and HELEN WIGGER, who will both host on the station's HD1 "JAZZWORKS" stream; WIGGER will serve as Operations Director and STUDEBAKER will double as Producer. Evening host TONY MOWOD turned down an offer to stay and will instead retire from radio and continue as an Adjunct Professor at DUQUESNE. Assistant News Director MARK NOOTBAR will serve as Senior Assignment Editor, while News Director KEVIN GAVIN will move to the post of Director of Interns and Producer. Also staying on will be LARKIN PAGE-JACOBS, who will be a reporter and local host for "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED"; NOAH BRODE, who will serve as local host for "WEEKEND EDITION" and as a reporter; and repprter ERIKA BERAS.
"RHYTHM SWEET AND HOT" with MIKE PLASKETT and DALE ABRAHAM and "MUSIC FROM INDIA" with HARISH SALUJA and Dr. VIJAY BAHL will also remain on the schedule.
