ASTRAL MEDIA AC CJOT/OTTAWA, CANADA has flipped to '70s-'90s Hits "BOOM 99.7," featuring a musical diet of U2, DURAN DURAN, THE POLICE, BLONDIE, QUEEN and INXS. Most of the on-air staff will stay on, although a new "BOOM Breakfast show will offer a more music, less talk format."
"The format shift is simply a natural evolution driven by changing market demand and listener feedback," boom GM DENIS BOUCHARD said. "MAJIC 100 has been declining over the last few years and their market position isn't clear. Bob, which skews more male, also plays '80s and '90's music but their offer of 'more whatever' is just that. With our well-defined position, boom will be a perfect fit for women 35-54 in this very competitive market."
"BOOM 99.7 will continue to be a highly entertaining and fun radio station that promises listeners more of the '70s '80s and '90s music they love to sing along to," PD SARAH CUMMINGS said.
