Longtime radio vet HARVEY WELLS, 61, is coming out of retirement to become SVP/Market Manager of CBS RADIO's five station cluster in RIVERSIDE-SAN BERNARDINO, CA, reports ROBERT FEDER in TIMEOUT CHICAGO. He succeeds KEVIN MURPHY, who resigned in MAY.
WELLS, who started as weekend overnighter at WXRT/CHICAGO, eventually rose the corporate ladder until he oversaw multiple stations in the market. "I didn’t realize how much I was going to miss it," he told FEDER. "When I left, I thought I would be leaving [radio] for good. But I guess I wasn’t ready to retire. When they called me to talk about interviewing for the job, I thought a lot about it and decided I really wanted to get back in it. I’m really happy to be back."
"I am extremely pleased to welcome HARVEY WELLS back to CBS Radio and announce his appointment as SVP/Market Manager for CBS Radio in RIVERSIDE," CBS RADIO EVP/Operations SCOTT HERMAN announced in a statement. "I have always been impressed with HARVEY’s ability to be a strategic thinker and the way he interacts with his people. As a top notch broadcaster and an early adopter to digital, I believe he’ll be a great addition to our team.
