People in ALABAMA are continuing to dig out and rebuild, following the devastating tornadoes that stormed across the south back in APRIL. Last night (7/11) in BIRMINGHAM, RIHANNA brought the community together for music and some much needed fun, in a nearly sold-out benefit concert at the BIRMINGHAM-JEFFERSON CONVENTION COMPLEX ARENA to raise money for the state's tornado relief effort. The singer had added the date to her "Get Loud" tour, as it traveled through the South.
DITTMAN Top 40 WABB/MOBILE middayer BLONDIE came up for the show, recording the fun. BIRMINGHAM MAYOR WILLIAM BELL was joined on stage by the first responders, whom he thanked for their heroic service. Just before welcoming RIHANNA, the MAYOR playfully remarked it was about to "get crunk up in this place" (watch here), and did it ever!
One of the musical highlights had the singer and audience joining together to sing "Sweet Home Alabama" (watch here). After the show, the MAYOR presented RIHANNA with the key to the city.
