July 14, 2011 at 1:44 PM (PT)
The NASHVILLE-based SUN ENTERTAINMENT CORP. is suing the HOUSTON record company, COMPADRE RECORDS, who chose to use JOHNNY CASH recordings in advertisements. According to THE TENNESSEAN, a remix of CASH’s “Country Boy” was used in the movie trailer for “Zombieland.”
SUN ENTERTAINMENT CORP. is taking on COMPADRE due to a breach of contract and copyright infringement. COMPADRE was also paid by ABC-TV for its use of the same remixed song in promotional advertisements for the CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL.
The label has not responded yet to the lawsuit.
