FINDINGbalance, The Fish/Nashville To Present Celebrity Spelling Bee Event
July 21, 2011 at 6:10 PM (PT)
NASHVILLE non-profit FINDINGBALANCE has announced its first "BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRITY SPELLING BEE FOR FREEDOM." The event will be held in partnership with SALEM Christian AC WFFH (94 FM THE FISH)/NASHVILLE and will pit recording artists, authors and comedians against local fifth graders.
"I got the idea from a story on NPR," said FINDINGBALANCE Founder/CEO CONSTANCE RHODES. "Apparently spelling bees were becoming quite the rage in bars across the U.S., and I thought, 'Now there is a fun idea!' So fun, in fact, that A-list artists have jumped on board to lend their name and their talent in support of the cause."
TENTH AVENUE NORTH will appear as both contestants and performers at the event. Other artists and songwriters participating will be JONNY DIAZ, SATELLITES & SIRENS, ASHLEY CLEVELAND, CHRISTA BLACK, SUPERCHICK's MELISSA BROCK, SARAH ROSS of EVERLIFE and THE FISH's Morning Show Co-host DOUG GRIFFIN. SHOW HOPE's CHRIS WHEELER will host the event.
While the main focus of the event is positive family fun, its underlying purpose is to raise awareness and funding for FINDINGBALANCE's work promoting freedom from eating disorders and body image issues. "With obesity a national epidemic and eating disorders on the rise, there's no time to lose. Our goal for this event is to give us the push we need, both in brand awareness and funding, to move from creating great resources, to getting them into the hands of more people who need them," says RHODES.
The "BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRITY BEE FOR FREEDOM" will be held THURSDAY, AUGUST 25th from 6:30-8:30p (CT) at ROLLING HILLS COMMUNITY CHURCH in FRANKLIN, TN. Tickets will be available at www.94fmTheFISH.net.
