MCGAVREN GUILD MEDIA has reached an agreement to represent WAMO 100, "PITTSBURGH's Home for Hip-Hop and R&B."
GM LAURA VARNER-NORMAN said, "We are honored to bring the new WAMO100 to the PITTSBURGH market and surrounding areas to be a much needed voice for the urban community. TIM MARTZ, owner of MARTZ COMMUNICATIONS GROUP, has been steadfast in his goal to unite the PITTSBURGH community through a format that has been missed for almost 2 years. Our goal is to pick-up where the old WAMO left off by taking their foundation and building upon it to make a product that the entire PITTSBURGH community can be proud of and continue to support. The welcome we have received from listeners and clients has been tremendous so we look forward to building our brand in this market."
She continues, "Our renewed relationship with MCGAVREN GUILD, who had been our partner prior to the sign off and was a great contributor to many years of success, is the icing on the cake to help us complete our vision and bring the same quality of clients to our listeners in the PITTSBURGH and surrounding areas. MICKEY BAKER has been appointed to lead our national sales initiative and we have the utmost confidence in her years in national sales as well as her relationship with MCGAVREN GUILD. We feel there is no competition in the PITTSBURGH market for the urban audience so we plan to super serve their needs and MCGAVREN GUILD is a crucial element to helping us achieve our success. We are glad to work with such an established national rep firm and we look forward to great opportunities in the future."
MCGAVREN GUILD COO BARRY FISCHER commented, "We are thrilled to be working with the great folks at WAMO 100. We had the pleasure of representing the station for years prior to its sign-off in 2009, and now that the station has returned to the airwaves and is back to serve PITTSBURGH's African-American community once again, we know that it is bound to be a tremendous success. The ties that it has to the community run deep and remained intact, as evidenced by the significant outpouring of local support...and the local market is the most immediate gauge of a station's status. Clearly the WAMO brand is respected and loved, and we look forward to taking its story to the national marketplace once again. We wish LAURA and her team huge success and we will do our part on the national level to help them achieve great things."
