August 4, 2011 at 12:12 PM (PT)
NEWSDAY's NEIL BEST reports that the NEW YORK KNICKS have officially signed former LOS ANGELES LAKERS broadcaster SPERO DEDES as the team's new radio voice and substitute television announcer. The deal had been widely reported as likely when DEDES turned down a move to handle LAKERS telecasts after the season, but had not been finalized until now.
DEDES, a NEW JERSEY native who had been the LAKERS radio voice for six seasons and was part of the NEW JERSEY NETS TV crew before that, replaces MIKE CRISPINO on the KNICKS broadcasts, heard on ESPN Sports WEPN-A (1050 ESPN)/NEW YORK.
