A dispute has broken out over coverage of the annual WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE parade of cars in the DETROIT area, with the event's exclusive contracts for broadcast coverage being challenged by a website that plans to offer streaming video as well as audio coverage on CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WDTW-A/DETROIT. The DETROIT FREE PRESS reports that DREAMCRUISELIVE.COM's coverage would conflict with the exclusive contracts held by CBS RADIO Classic Hits WOMC and SCRIPPS ABC affiloiate WXYZ-TV/DETROIT.
According to the FREEP, website proprietors STEPHEN GREENE and BRIAN JONES have been served with a cease and desist letter from the DREAM CRUISE's counsel SEAN COOK alleging that the website's name violates the parade's trademark of the name "DREAM CRUISE" and the use must end by TODAY (8/11). Nevertheless, the pair plans to broadcast anyway and has hired a lawyer on a pro bono basis and has applied for its own state trademark on "DREAMCRUISELIVE.COM."
