The BBC will operate a temporary radio station in LONDON next year during the OLYMPICS. The digital 5 LIVE OLYMPICS EXTRA, airing for about 20 days during the event, will supplement coverage on Talk 5 LIVE and its existing 5 LIVE SPORTS EXTRA digital station.
The BBC's BBC WORLDWIDE also announced that is selling its magazine division to private equity group EXPONENT for 121 million pounds. The deal moves publication of 34 titles to EXPONENT, although some, including the magazine version of "TOP GEAR," will be retained by BBC WORLDWIDE but published under contract by EXPONENT. Included in the transaction are BBC MAGAZINES' stakes in subscription and distribution companies. BBC WORLDWIDE also sold its 50% of magazine publisher WORLDWIDE MEDIA in INDIA to partner BENNETT, COLEMAN AND CO., owner of the TIMES OF INDIA.
