CASCADE INVESTMENT -- that's MICROSOFT Chairman BILL GATES' company -- has been added to the list of investment companies, along with BAIN CAPITAL, THE BLACKSTONE GROUP, CARLYLE GROUP, and KOHLBERG KRAVIS ROBERTS, that will partner with MEXICO's GROUPO TELEVISA in a bid for UNIVISION. The list was submitted in a MAY 12 letter to the SEC; TELEVISA owns 11.4% of UNIVISION and cannot own more than 25% due to U.S. laws preventing foreign ownershop of broadcast entities above the 25% ceiling.
CASCADE already owns a small stake in TELEVISA, and the BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION holds a small stake in UNIVISION.
