ESPN has replaced Country artist HANK WILLIAMS JR. for the broadcast of MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL with NFL player BARRY SANDERS. HANK and ESPN decided to part ways after the controversy around HANK’s comments comparing PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA to HITLER, on FOX’s “FOX & FRIENDS” (NET NEWS 10/6). SANDERS will be featured in a video segment that previews the game, according to the DETROIT FREE PRESS.
SANDERS tweeted, “I will be at MNF this week and doing the intro.”
ESPN spokesman JOSH KRULEWITZ said, “This is the format we'll likely use the remainder of the season. We haven't made any decisions beyond that."
