Condolences to family and friends of Country WKBX (K-BAY 106)/KINGSLAND, GA owner JIM STEELE, who died SUNDAY after a battle with cancer at 65, according to the FLORIDA TIMES-UNION.
STEELE, a CHICAGO native, was raised in MERIDIAN, MS, where he worked at WTOK-TV and WOKK-A before going to college at the UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI and earning a Master's Degree from the UNIVERSITY OF DENVER. After stints in television in DENVER, INDIANAPOLIS and CHICAGO, several years with the NAB, and serving as advertising clearance manager at BOZELL, JACOBS, he bought WKBX with his wife WENDY in 1989. He was active as Treasurer and board member with the GEORGIA RADIO HALL OF FAME.
