Jared Easley is the co-founder and co-organizer of Podcast Movement, the largest podcasting conference in the world. The event features all of the major podcast players in the industry. This year, Jacobs Media has put together a special track at the event designed just for radio broadcasters on Thursday, August 24th. Jared is also a published author, contributing writer and host of the Starve the Doubts podcast. I asked him about this year's conference...
1. What can people expect at this year's Podcast Movement conference?
A return on investment! Whether it is strategies that help with the business side of your podcast within 90 days of the event or the new relationships that open additional doors for your show creatively and professionally, Podcast Movement will put everyone who attends in a better position to grow their podcast venture.
2. Who comes to this event?
A lot of hats are worn at Podcast Movement. The different folks roaming the halls to network and attend sessions range from attendees who are interested in podcasting, hobbyists, industry professionals, radio professionals interested/involved in podcasting, businesses that appeal to podcasters or the podcasting space, authors/entrepreneurs who want to be guests on podcasts as well as fans of the medium overall.
3. How has the event changed over the years?
The event has changed in the sense that attendance has grown every year. The diversity of the attendees has grown as well as the niches and genres represented continue to develop naturally. The organization and execution of the event also continues to under-promise and over-deliver every summer.
4. What will the event have to offer for radiobroadcasters looking to delve into podcasting?
Radio broadcasters will experience creative and innovative ideas for opportunities to grow and profit. They will also encounter a community that has adopted an abundance mentality. Most podcasters want to help the community at large to reach it's full potential.
5. Tell us about one of your favorite moments from the first three Podcast Movement conferences.
My favorite experiences include the "aha moments" that move beyond clarity into action and yield big results. Joe Saul-Sehy from the Stacking Benjamin's podcast recently summed this up. "Podcast Movement gave me the confidence to do something I knew needed to be done....I had to change our format. After guidance from pros in many sessions I had the courage and expertise to make some tough moves. I'm SO glad I took the advice I learned at Podcast Movement. Within three months we 3x'd our listeners. A year later publications in our industry were handing us "Best Podcast" awards. I credit that largely to Podcast Movement."
