Why Not

It's too easy to discourage yourself from podcasting. I know; I've been there. I AM there. Here are the arguments:
1) Too many shows out there. I'll get lost.
2) No time, especially for something that won't pay.
3) Don't have the equipment, can't afford it.
Here are the answers:
1) So what? If you're doing it for fame and fortune, maybe there's going to be a problem. If you're doing it because you love talking and creating, though, how many people listen really doesn't matter. And if you do it because you love talking and creating, you're doing it for the right reasons.
2) This one's my personal biggest problem, but you don't have to devote much time to it, because there's no specific time limit or minimum for any show. You only have time for a five minute show? Then five minutes it is. And it doesn't need to take much time because....
3) You have what you need. You can record, edit, and upload from a phone, a tablet, any laptop. If you want it to sound better, well, you can do that later. The goal right now is to overcome your hesitation and get rolling, and as long as you have something that records to a file, you're there. (And if you really want better right out of the box, a Zoom recorder and a good mic aren't that expensive.)
So, no excuses. Do it. Now, if I could only take my own advice....
