Filling a need:
That fun couple, BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE, not only have six children and several movies between them, but are now the purveyors of their own wine label.
As you probably know, they live in France's Provence region in a 35-room wine chateau they bought for around $60 million. It also includes a thousand acres of prime grape-growing country, and the former owners installed a recording studio there which PINK FLOYD used to do tracks for their album, "The Wall."
In fact, the vineyard there actually makes a "Pink Floyd rosé." Now, Brad and Angie are rolling out their own wine, a rosé, next month. No word on what it will be called. And there reportedly will be white wines as well later this summer.Warning: note content.
While we're on the subject of celebrity booze, RON JEREMY's brand of rum has been pulled off stores in Canada. The Hollywood Reporter says a customer in Manitoba reportedly complained to the local Liquor Control Commission, which then ordered 60 cases of "Ron de Jeremy" premium rum off the shelves at Liquor Marts province-wide.
By the way, the company that distributes the porn star's brand is named "One Eyed Spirits."Sucks to be you:
Is KATIE COURIC's late husband contacting her from beyond? The NY Daily News reports the chatterbox was late to a taping of her show last Tuesday because a phone registered to JAY MONAHAN has been dialing 9-1-1 every Tuesday at two-am! Apparently KC called in some big wigs and enlisted the help of New York Police Commissioner RAY KELLY to get to the bottom of things. (Lee)
Movies opening this weekend:
Hollywood insiders seem to think the BRUCE WILLIS sequel, "A Good Day To Die Hard," will probably be number one over the combination Valentines Day /President's Day weekend, with a box office take somewhere around $40 million.
Competing against Bruce is the latest NICHOLAS SPARKS' chick flick, "Safe Haven," starring JOSH DUHAMEL (pronounced Doo-MEL) and RYAN SEACREST's girlfriend, "DWTS" pro JULIANNE HOUGH.
By the way --for you guys in the audience, if you're unfamiliar with Sparks, he's the guy who wrote "The Notebook," "Message in a Bottle" and about 15 others. If you're a "Die Hard" fan, you probably don't care about the reviews for the latest in the series, which have been unanimously brutal. A quick sampling:
--"Last is least," (Hollywood Reporter),
--"obnoxious, over the top and often dull" (USA Today)
--"...everything that made the first Die Hard memorable --the nuances of character, the political subtext, the cowboy wit-- has been dumbed down or scrubbed away entirely" (NY Times)Grace notes:
Send a letter, Gangnam Style! Post offices in Seoul, South Korea are set to release a series of stamps honoring PSY and the worldwide success of his single. The stamps will be available from February 18th through the 22nd. By the way, Gangnam is a district in Seoul...where people apparently pretend to ride horses. (Marino)
