The First Family at play:
The Boston Globe reports that First Lady MICHELLE OBAMA and the kids might seeing a lot less of D.C. in the coming weeks, and a lot more of Martha's Vineyard. The Globe said, "Michelle Obama and the children may be on the island for an extended period."
No official word yet from the White House. (Pacelli)Oklahoma tornado update:
Oklahoma officials say that 12-to-13-thousand homes had been affected by Monday's huge tornado, with property damage of $1.5-$2 billion. Incredibly, five people were found alive yesterday, leaving only one person missing. Sadly, yes, toddlers and young children were among the dead. The death toll remains at 24.
Meanwhile, no surprise here: PRESIDENT OBAMA will visit to Moore, OK, on Sunday to survey the damage of the tornado that leveled the town earlier this week. Obama will meet with families displaced by the twister, first responders and other emergency workers who kicked into high gear during and after the storm. (Maiman)Grace notes:
BLAKE SHELTON is putting together a telethon for the victims of the tornado which wiped out Moore, Oklahoma. The country singer and coach on "The Voice" told Billboard.com yesterday that he's working out the details with NBC and should be able to announce something later today. There will be musical performances and celebrities asking you to give what you can. Blake grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, which is about 75-miles northwest of Moore.
Editor's note: That means somewhere in New Jersey, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has the capo on the third fret of his acoustic guitar, trying to find words that rhyme with tornado. (Marino)Bid'ness is Bid'ness:
Every single one of Tumblr's 178 employees will get money from the $1.1 billion Yahoo deal, which means that if the site hadn't let go of its three editorial team members last month, they, too, would've received $371,000 --each.
That's the minimum Tumblr employees will receive from the deal because of stock options. The first 30 employees will get an average of $3.3 million, and the first 10 are due an average of $6.6 million.
And those three staffers probably didn't think it would get worse after getting fired in a horrible memo from their boss. (Maiman)Trash talk and satellite dish:
Another reason ANGELINA JOLIE had her preventative double mastectomy has emerged --her aunt is currently battling breast cancer. For the second time.
As you know by now, Angelina had her surgery after testing positive for the "faulty" BRCA1 gene, which increases a woman's likelihood of contracting breast and ovarian cancer. It was ovarian cancer which took the life of her mother.
But now, the National Enquirer reports her mom's younger sister, DEBRA MARTIN, also encouraged Angelina to have the surgery after she was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time.
Debra, who's 61, had a lumpectomy when it was discovered she had stage four breast cancer in 2004, and had a reocurrence of breast cancer last year.Models:
GWYNETH PALTROW says modeling is "the perfect job when you have kids." And if there's anyone who's an expert on perfect... it's Gwyneth. The reason, she explained to Women's Wear Daily, is because of the shorter time commitments. And she knows this because she's the new face of Hugo Boss' new fragrance, Jour Pour Femme.
Editor's note: See? Gwyneth's got this whole work-life-parenting balance thing figured out. Just achieve a completely unattainable standard of beauty and get a modeling job while raising your children. It's not like kids cause stretch marks, inspire stress eating or keep you up at night with worry and unexplainable crying fits. Just be a model. Like Gwyneth. She knows how to fix everything.
