I'm a Poll Man:
As PRESIDENT OBAMA heads out to his vacation on Martha's Vineyard, his approval rating continues to sputter. A new Gallup three-day rolling average puts his approval rating at just 41-percent, with 50-percent disapproving.
That survey is a constant, three-day "rolling average" from telephone surveys of 15-hundred adults. (Pacelli)Gossip Central:
JENNIFER ANISTON's bump watch is on again. A pic in this week's Star magazine shows the "We Are the Millers" actress with a bump on her tummy at the premiere of the film. But once again, no baby. The tabloid reports that she was spotted a couple of nights later with fiance JUSTIN THEROUX and they were both drinking wine. (Myers)
Fashion Emergency:
If you're buying your nail polish at C-V-S stores, you might be "Breaking Bad." C-V-S is instituting a new policy of asking for I-Ds from nail polish buyers because of fears that they'll use the polish to make meth. The NY Post says the policy has been rolled out across southern New England in the last few weeks. If you want to buy nail polish, you not only have to show I-D, but you'll also be limited in how many bottles you can buy. The acetone used in most polishes is the main culprit. C-V-S says their policy is intended to "limit the sale of [acetone] based products. (Bartha)
Grace notes:
USHER gets to keep his kids. That's what a judge in Atlanta decided on Friday. The singer's ex-wife, TAMEKA FOSTER RAYMOND, called for an emergency custody hearing after their five-year-old son nearly drowned in the pool at his father's house last Monday. Tameka testified that she should have temporary custody of the boys after the accident. Usher has physical custody of their sons, and the judge decided that's the way it should stay. (Marino)
Nothing ever good comes from:
1. Hanging around rest stops.
2. Walking on railroad tracks.
3. Taking the Lord's name in vain. A Tennessee mom is appealing a court's decision after a judge told her she couldn't name her baby after JESUS CHRIST.
It all started when JALEESA MARTIN and the boy's father couldn't agree on a last name for the kid. They did agree on the first name --MESSIAH. But, that's the part the judge took issue with.
Judge LU ANN BALLEW said, "The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ."
Judge Ballew finally ordered the seven-month-old's name be MARTIN DeSHAWN McCULLOUGH because it includes both parent's last names but leaves out 'Messiah'. (Still)Space, the Final Frontier:
The annual Perseid meteor shower will be making an appearance beginning tonite. The peak of the sky show will be August 12th and 13th between the hours of 10:30 pm and 4:30 am local time.
NASA says the best way to see the lights is to get away from city lights. It's possible that in the dark skies of the countryside star gazers could see up to 100 meteors per hour. (Page) -
