Equal time:
Gay marriage is underway in New Jersey.
Last Friday, the New Jersey State Supreme Court ruled in a unanimous vote that Gov CHRIS CHRISTIE's legal objections to gay marriage were less than fabulous, if you'll pardon the expression.
While Governor Christie still believes the decision to legalize gay marriage should be up to voters, he instructed the Department of Health to cooperate with all municipalities in carrying out the State Supreme Court's order.
New Jersey becomes the 14th state to legalize gay marriage. It's also legal in D-C. (Maiman)Taking everything much too seriously:
A guy in England has been ordered to take down his Halloween decorations because they're just too scary for kids.
25-year-old JAMES CREIGHTON goes all out with his decorations every year to raise money for cancer research in honor of his deceased grandmother. This was his third year doing it and he was already more than halfway to his goal of 16-hundred dollars. But, local parents complained that his house --nicknamed "The Chainsaw Massacre"-- was giving children nightmares. The display featured disemboweled torsos and randomly strewn bloody body parts. Cops made James take it all down. He says, "It's so ridiculous it's almost funny." (Still)Guilty Pleasures:
No winner in Saturday night's drawing for the Powerball Lottery. That means Wednesday night's drawing is valued at $216 million ($124.8 million cash value). Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, DC and the U-S Virgin Islands. Chances of winning the grand prize (all five numbers plus the powerball) are 1 in 175.2 million.
Models:
EMILY RATAJKOWSKI --better known as the naked brunette in ROBIN THICKE's "Blurred Lines" video-- just landed a big ad campaign that includes clothes! For Rag & Bone's D-I-Y campaign, People magazine says cameras will follow Emily around New York City as she goes about her day wearing different jeans and clothing from the brand's newest line. No stylist, hair and makeup crew or special lighting. Just Emily. And clothes! (Bartha)
TV Briefs:
Cool story on Friday's ELLEN DeGENERES show, when SARAH HOIDAHL, a New Hampshire waitress, appeared.
She told about picking up the lunch tab --$27.75-- of two National Guard soldiers who'd been affected by the federal government's shutdown. Ellen gave her the money back for her good deed --along with a check for $10-thousand dollars, saying "You're a good person." Ellen also gave her a 50-inch television.Fear factor and Halloween!
