Political Racket /Dirty Tricks:
Can a sitting U.S. president be sued by Congress?
We might get an answer to that in the not too distant future if House Speaker JOHN BOEHNER gets his way. Boehner said yesterday that he'll introduce a bill next month allowing the House to sue PRESIDENT OBAMA over his use of executive actions.
Boehner told reporters, "The Constitution makes it clear that a president's job is to faithfully execute the laws; in my view, the president has not faithfully executed the laws... And when there's conflicts like this between the legislative branch and the administrative branch it's, in my view, our responsibility to stand up for this institution in which we serve."
Reaction from Democrats and the White House wasn't surprising. House Minority Leader NANCY PEOLOSI of CA called Boehner's move "subterfuge," while White House spokesman JOSH EARNEST said, "It seems that Republicans have shifted their opposition into a higher gear. (Pacelli)London tabloids:
Rumors continue to swirl that CHRIS MARTIN and GWYNETH PALTROW are headed toward a reunion. The UK's Daily Mail reports the willowy blonde got a wee bit jealous when she saw oodles of beautiful, younger women chasing her longtime husband, was shocked the COLPLAY singer adjusted so well to the single life and realized their problems may be fixable, after all. Are HEIDI KLUM and SEAL back on? According to In Touch magazine, the ex's are hooking up occasionally and might even reconcile.
The Supremes:
The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that police cannot search your cell phone without a warrant. Up until now, police were able to search cell-phone contents under an old law that allowed cops to examine items found on a person who is detained or arrested in order to see if an arrested person has a weapon --and to prevent people from destroying evidence.
Broadcast, cable and video news:
Get ready to line up in Times Square, hold up a sign and scream like a 12-year-old girl. MTV says it's bringing back its show, "Total Request Live" (TRL), for one day only. SWAY CALLAWAY will host (instead of past host CARSON DALY). ARIANA GRANDE will take over the studio on July 2nd at 7 pm Eastern for "Total Ariana Live." It's a 30-minute special with Ariana performing a stripped down version of "Problem," and her new single, "Break Free." Plus, she will make a very special surprise announcement during the show.
Editor's note: Surprise announcement? "Sam & Cat" are lesbians! Right? Right? (Marino)
FYI: Daily Variety says the original TRL aired 2,247 episodes during its decade-long run on MTV.The Reel Deal:
