The President's address:
A lot of air strikes ... but no combat boots on the ground.
That's the core of PRESIDENT OBAMA's strategy to battle ISIS militants. He detailed that plan in an addresslast night.
He said, "I want the American people to understand how this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan ... It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil."
The president did not use the word "war" last night to refer to what's coming up. Instead, he referred to what's ahead as a "counter-terrorism campaign... (that)... will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground. He added, "It's a "strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines." (Pacelli)Culture Shock:
Obstetricians are claiming last winter's "polar vortex" has caused a mini-baby boom.
It's nine months after the end of last year's frigid winter with its unrelenting blizzards and more. And as a result, people were forced to stay inside and, well... we're now seeing some of the results as maternity wards across the midwest and east coast are seeing a surge in births.
The weather guys are already predicting another bitterly cold winter, and doctors are advising women looking to have babies next year to "get busy now" and you'll have plenty of room and space when the baby comes next summer."The Internet:
Gotta G-Mail account? Your user name and password may have been posted on a Russian Bitcoin forum. CNews reported yesterday that nearly five million Gmail users' logon combinations may have been posted Tuesday on btcsec.com. And although Google says most of the combinations appear to be outdated, one forum user claims around 60 percent of their corresponding passwords are valid.
Google says they don't think it was a security hack, but says users should change their passwords if it's been a while since they've last done it. They also recommend users set up a two-step verification process, which requires users to enter a second verification code --sent to a cell phone-- when you use the service in a public place or on a foreign computer.

A Texas convict who appealed his death sentence claiming that the drugs the state was using for his lethal injection had not been tested for six months was executed anyway yesterday.
WILLIE TYRONE TROTTIE's "cruel and unusual punishment" appeal was turned down after the Texas Department of Criminal Justice noted that the lethal drugs had a "use by" date of Sep 30, and the back-up drugs (phenobarbitol) had a "use by" date of Oct 31 as well.
See ya!
Willie was the eighth inmate to die by lethal injection this year in Texas and the 516th since the state reinstated the death penalty in 1982. It's the most of any state.Grace notes:
