At press time, TX GOP Sen. TED CRUZ --a Tea Party favorite-- used a tweet to announce a 2016 presidential campaign. Advisers tell the Houston Chronicle that Cruz plans to raise as much as $50-million-dollars during the primary season.

BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN was relocated from Emory University to a rehab facility in Atlanta last Thursday. TMZ.com reports doctors tried to remove her from life support one final time, but the daughter of WHITNEY HOUSTON and BOBBY BROWN remains unresponsive. Word is dear old dad refuses to give up hope and truly believes his baby girl will come out the coma. (Lee)
On, off and way-off Broadway:
The Tony Award-winning "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" is headed to the big screen. TheWrap.com says Sony Pictures announced the project yesterday with TOM HANKS producing through his Playtone company. DOUGLAS McGRATH, who wrote the book for the musical will adapt it for the screenplay. The show is in its second year on Broadway and recently opened in London's West End. A national tour of the U.S. begins in September. (Marino)

Climate change and wild weather:
France's famed Mont Saint-Michel was temporarily turned into an island on Saturday after a so-called "supertide" came in and stranded the ancient abbey. Mont Saint-Michel is normally linked to the French mainland by a causeway, but every 18 years, this super-tide rushes in and out of the northern French coast, flooding the causeway and stranding the popular tourist destination. Bad luck:
Magician DAVID COPPERFIELD is trying to make hundreds of gallons of water disappear.
That's because Copperfield's Manhattan rooftop swimming pool spontaneously burst and flooded his apartment. The water didn't stop there. Apparently it seeped into other apartments as far down as 30-floors below. Experts say a pump for the 57th-floor pool malfunctioned. Copperfield was in Las Vegas at the time, where he performs a nightly show at the MGM Grand. (Still) -
