Sucking Up:
GOP presidential candidate and FL Sen. MARCO RUBIO says he personally opposes same-sex marriage, but that position would not prevent him from attending a gay wedding. He tells Fusion, "If it's somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would (attend)... Ultimately, if someone that you care for and is part of your family has decided to move in one direction or another or feels that way because of who they love, you respect that because you love them." (Pacelli)
Money Talks:
The 2016 Presidential campaign will be the most pixelated ever, with a Borrell Associate estimate of an over 500 percent increase that reaches nearly a billion-with-a-B bucks in online ad spending for the 2016 elections. In 2012, Obama spent $52 million and Romney spent $26 million on digital. (Kaye)
Watercooler:
Wotta surprise --KIM KARDASHIAN was edited right out of a photo taken with KANYE WEST and Jerusalem's Mayor NIR BARKAT on an ultra-Orthodox website.
The reason --NASSIM BEN HAIM, editor of the site Kikar HaShabbat, says she was taken out because she is a "pornographic symbol" who contradicts ultra-Orthodox values.
It must be noted that other women have been edited out of orthodox Jewish newspapers and magazines for reasons of modesty --German Chancellor ANGELA MERKEL was removed from a photo in January and HILLARY CLINTON was photoshopped out of an photo of US leaders watching the OSAMA BIN LADEN raid. On, off and way-off Broadway:
Get ready for "Mama Mia: The Restaurant!" NME.com says BJORN ULVAEUS of ABBA has plans to open a Greek taverna in Stockholm, Sweden, that will have singing waitstaff along with actors and musicians interacting with the customers and dancing to ABBA tunes. The storylines will change every night so guests can come back again and again to see how each evening plays out. Bjorn hopes Nicos' Taverna will be ready to start serving food and drink in January in the Grona Lund amusement park, which is a block away from the ABBA museum. Bjorn said if this concept works in Stockhom, he'll bring the restaurant to other cities. "Mama Mia" is closing on Broadway in September after a 14-year run. (Marino)
Looking for love in all the wrong places:
Flakka is the new designer drug thats bringing people closer to nature, literally! KENNETH CROWDER of Florida was believed to be high on it when he pulled a gun on police who were trying to arrest him. He was spotted running naked through a neighborhood yelling that he was a god. And that's when he decided to "get friendly" with a tree.
Police tasered him twice to try and get him under control but he kept coming at the cops. He attacked one officer, screaming he was Thor and tried to use the officer's own badge to stab him. He was charged with resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. (Myers)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
To celebrate Record Store Day on Saturday, FOO FIGHTERS will perform at a record store in Niles, Ohio. The independently owned Record Connection is located near Dave Grohl Alley, which was named for the singer/guitarist who was born in Warren, Ohio. The show goes on at 12 pm local time. Dave is the official ambassador of Record Store Day 2015. (Marino)
