Idle gossip & unconfirmed rumors:
Mardi Gras is still nine-months away, but BRANGELINA has the perfect reason to celebrate Fat Tuesday every day! TMZ.com reports the power couple is selling their mansion in New Orleans' French Quarter that they purchased after Hurricane Katrina. The five-bedroom, 3.2-bath wonder apparently has BRAD PITT's architectural "touch" and it can be yours for just $6.5-million-bucks. (Lee)
Fashion Emergency:
REESE WITHERSPOON has launched her own Southern-inspired retail and lifestyle website. It's called Draper James, and it's molded after the same business model as GWYNETH PALTROW'S Goop and BLAKE LIVELY'S Preserve websites. The Hollywood Reporter says right now, Reese's site is strictly digital. But she plans to open Draper James' first brick-and-mortar store in her native Nashville, Tennessee this fall.
The name comes from Reese's grandparents, DOROTHEA DRAPER and WILLIAM JAMES WITHERSPOON. Stylewise, Draper James offers preppy "Southern lifestyle" fashion, accessories and home décor items. That includes polka-dot and gingham stationary for $30, monogrammed cardigans for $185 and a "Totes Y'All" canvas bag for $155. (Bartha)Looking for love in all the wrong places:
A chlamydia outbreak has erupted at a West Texas high school that doesn't teach Sex Ed. The local CBS affiliate says 20 of the school's student body of 300 have been infected --over six percent of the student body.
Look what I found:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were able to intercept a reported $90-million dollars in cocaine after the crew of a fishing boat crew dumped the stuff overboard on Saturday.
Turns out that an aircraft based in Corpus Christi, TX, spotted the boat about 575 miles southwest of the Mexican-Guatemalan border, and using video and camera imagery, tracked it with the help of a ship from the US Navy, and then saw the crew dump the 12-hundred pounds of cocaine overboard.
Editor's note: Thanks and a tip of the RBR's reporter's fedora to JIM LAGO at KKTX for the story!Setting a good example:
Warning: note disturbing content!
A special education teacher in Georgia is accused of putting a child in a trash can.
Witnesses at Mt. Bethel Elementary School say 45-year-old teacher MARY KATHERINE PURSLEY was trying to calm down an autistic second-grader. She allegedly told the child that his behavior was similar to Sesame Street's OSCAR THE GROUCH. Cops say that's when she allegedly told the kid "If he had trashy behavior like Oscar, he'd go to the trash can." Pursley allegedly picked up the boy by his legs and held him upside down. Then, police say she put him head-first into a trash can.
Pursley was arrested and charged with cruelty to children in the first degree and is currently on paid administrative leave. (Still)Stars and their movies:
SOFIA VERGARA is getting a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame this morning at 11:30 am (Pacific).
"Modern Family" co-star ERIC STONESTREET and co-creator/Executive Producer STEVE LEVITAN will be on hand to unveil the star, which coincidentally will be right next to that of her TV husband, ED O'NEILL's, on Hollywood Boulevard in front of Marshalls Department Store.
The star is also a bit of publicity for her new movie, "Hot Pursuit," with REESE WITHERSPOON, which opens tomorrow in theatres. -
