Posturing, Posing and Press Releases:
The criteria for the first Democratic presidential debate, on CNN, is low enough that it looks like every major candidate will get in. It also appears that VP JOE BIDEN will be allowed in, even if he waits until the last minute to get into the race. (Pacelli)
Trash talk and satellite dish:
JENNIFER LOPEZ hasn't been married to her first husband for 17 years, but he's still hell-bent on releasing a naughty video that was filmed on their honeymoon. In Touch magazine reports OJANI NOA and his business partner, ED MEYER, believe they've found a "legal loophole" that will allow them to mass-produce the footage, which features the diva with a "lack of clothing and in sexual situations" that is guaranteed to shock her fans.
Phone starter: Do you have an ex that just won't let bygones be bygones? Is it borderline stalking? Do you have children together? (Lee)Broadcast, cable and video news:
TREVOR NOAH's first "Daily Show" replacing JON STEWART is history, and picked up pretty good reviews.
Variety reported "While Stewart left big shoes to fill, Noah's first at bat suggests the format remains durable enough to let him find his footing." Or, as Trevor put it, "Once again, a job Americans rejected is now being done by an immigrant."
However, the Hollywood Reporter review noted that "in his first 20-ish minutes behind the desk, the 31-year-old South African was unable to exceed the standard set by his Emmy-hording predecessor. No memories of Stewart and his storied reign have been usurped or replaced... [but] The truth is that "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" was, in most ways, just "The Daily Show"... The best and most honest thing you can say about Monday's premiere is, 'He didn't break it.' He also didn't try to."Look what I found:
A Delta plane was grounded overnight in Baltimore after a tarantula was spotted on board.
An airline spokesman confirms Atlanta-bound Flight 1525 was scheduled to take off from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Wednesday. But, baggage handlers discovered the tarantula in the cargo hold, prompting the pilot to cancel takeoff. The passengers were moved to another plane, which took off three hours later.
One passenger told members of the media that he heard from flight crew that there were actually 750 tarantulas on board the plane and most of them had broken free. But, Delta denies the statement, claiming there was only one loose spider. (Still)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
JUSTIN BIEBER wants to live like Jesus Christ. That's what he told Complexmagazine. In the cover story of this month's issue, Justin said that he's been saved by Christianity. He said (quote), "I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not be Jesus --I could never-- I don't want that to come across weird. He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you believe it, he died for our sins."
But, Justin went on to say that he's (quote), "not religious." He also offered this bit of philosophy (quote), "You don't need to go to church to be a Christian. If you go to Taco Bell, that doesn't make you a taco." Justin's new album, which still doesn't have a title yet, will be out on November 13th. (Marino) -
