What's the Buzz:
NSA whistleblower EDWARD SNOWDEN now has a Twitter account. "Can you hear me now?" he wrote as his very first tweet under his name, @snowden.
In 30 minutes he had 75-thousand followers; by this morning he'd already gotten more than ten times that number (884-thousand). As for Edward, he's only following one Twitter account: @NSAGov. "I used to work for the government. Now I work for the public," his profile reads.
Snowden currently lives in Russia.Guilty Pleasures:
No winner in Saturday night's drawing for the Powerball Lottery. That means tonight's drawing is valued at $301 million ($191.4 million cash value). Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the U-S Virgin Islands. Chances of winning the grand prize (all five numbers plus the Powerball) are 1 in 175.2 million.
Fast food:
You've probably already tried Oreo's latest Pumpkin Spice flavored cookie, and Nabisco --which has been experimenting with new flavors including mint, lemon, peanut butter, and key lime pie-- has announced their latest flavor: Cinnamon Bun Oreos.
The Oreos will reportedly have cinnamon-spiced cookies sandwich around a cinnamon bun-flavored creme, and they'll reportedly be in stores next month, with Target and WalMart getting first crack at the limited editions.Trolling for publicity:
LENA DUNHAM's extending her hipster brand with a newsletter called "Lenny." It launched this week with a selfie of Dunham, co-founder JENNI KONNOR, and Democratic presidential candidate HILLARY CLINTON, leading the page and highlighting Dunham's interview with the former First Lady.
Dunham says the newsletter is designed to be "a snark-free place for feminists" because women in their 20s aren't being heard or engaged.
Other articles include a collaboration with Planned Parenthood, a memoir by co-editor Jenni Konner's own mother about her abortion in Mexico 50+ years ago, and an essay from a honeymooner in a same-sex marriage, among other features. (Kaye)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
NICKI MINAJ is making her way to TV.Variety says she just signed a deal with ABC Family to executive produce and star in a scripted comedy series based on her life growing up in Queens, New York. Nicki was not an overnight sensation. She went to LaGuardia High in Manhattan which is an arts school and you have to compete with tons of other kids just to get an audition. She got in and studied acting before launching her career as a rapper. (Marino)
