The Stock Market:
Good news from McDonalds, which had the best growth in nearly six years, up 5.7 percent in sales, thanks to the Egg McMuffin, and the company's new "Breakfast All Day" agenda. As it turns out, people coming in for lunch are getting breakfast items. and pushing McDonald's stock to an all-time high.
The Washington Post reports the demand for McMuffins is so strong that the chain buys more than two billion eggs per year in the United States alone, or almost five percent of all eggs produced in the country.Fast Food:
Add Ben & Jerry's to the folks who are pushing BERNIE SANDERS for President!
Company co-founder BEN COHEN is pushing a new flavor of ice cream called "Bernie's Yearning," just in time for the first primary. Don't get too excited --you can't buy it in stores, yet --but there are pictures of the packaging on Ben's Facebook page and at his website, www.berniesyearning.com.
Underneath "Bernie's Yearning," the pint --and he made 40 of them-- says "Nothing is so unstoppable as a flavor whose time has finally come."
The ice cream is described this way: "The entire top of this pint is covered with a thick disc of solid chocolate. Underneath is plain mint ice cream. The chocolate disc represents the huge majority of economic gains that have gone to the top one percent since the end of the recession. Beneath it, the rest of us."
And, of course, there's a way to get at that one percent --"1. Take back of spoon and whack huge chocolate disc into lots of pieces. 2. Let the ice cream soften up a bit, mix the pieces around - and there you have it, Bernie's Yearning. 3. Dig in, and share it with your fellow Americans!"On, off and way-off-Broadway:
A new block of tickets will go on sale next week for the mega-hit Broadway musical, "Hamilton." Playbill.com says performances through January 22nd, 2017, hit the Richard Rodgers Theater box office and Ticketmaster.com on February 2nd. Single tickets run from $67-dollars to $177-dollars. Producer JEFFREY SELLERS put out a warning last week about scalpers and counterfeit tickets. There's a lot of fakes out there, and they will not get you in to see the show. Only buy tickets from the box office or Ticketmaster.com to guarantee they are real. (Marino)
Fashion Emergency:
DWAYNE JOHNSON is a fashion designer now. The artist formerly known as "The Rock" is releasing his first full product line for Under Armour as early as next week! In addition to clothes, the collection also includes a backpack and duffel bag. Racked.com says the deal also involves a video series documenting The Rock's fitness routine, and the wrestler-turned-movie-star's promotion of other Under Armour programs.
Johnson is just the latest celebrity athlete to partner up with Under Armour. He joins NBA star STEPH CURRY, quarterbacks CAM NEWTON and TOM BRADY, ballerina MISTY COPELAND, skier LINDSEY VONN, tennis star ANDY MURRAY and swimmer MICHAEL PHELPS. (Bartha) -
