On, off and way-off-Broadway:
BETH BEHRS of TV's "Two Broke Girls" made her New York stage debut this week in a brand new play. Playbill.com says she stars in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City." No, that doesn't all fit on the marquee of the MCC Theater! The comedy is now in previews and opens on June 7th. (Marino)
In the Dumper:
A Michigan man is accused of using counterfeit money to pay a stripper.
Saginaw County prosecutors say 32-year-old STEPHEN GIDCUMB paid for a lap dance with a fake $100-dollar bill. He was arrested when he returned to the same club later in the day. Police say more fake bills were found during a raid of Gidcumb's house. He's charged with printing them on his computer. (Still)School daze:
Learning has reached a whole new level of gross. Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas, is being investigated after a video surfaced of students using a cat's intestines as a jump rope during a school sanctioned lesson. The teacher was trying to prove how strong intestines are during an anatomy class. A spokesperson for the school said that no one will face punishment because there was no "ill will" meant but the school is going to update the lesson plan. (Myers)
Preakness Stakes:
Saturday marks the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes, the second (and shortest, at only 1-3/16 miles) of the Triple Crown horse races. It'll take place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD, where post time will be 6:19 pm (Eastern), and broadcast on NBC (although they'll begin coverage around 4:30 pm). The race has been called "The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans" because a blanket of yellow flowers altered to resemble the Maryland State flower is placed around the winner's neck. The winning horse gets a purse of $1.5 million dollars. Last year, Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah was also the winner of the Preakness Stakes.
Odds for the Preakness (Paddy Power):
Nyquist, 4/7 (favorite)
Exaggerator, 3/1
Stradavari, 9/1
Collected, 10/1
Cherry Wine, 25/1
Uncle Lino, 33/1
