That silly viral video featuring a Texas housewife in a Chewbacca mask has made her a small fortune! Time magazine reports CANDACE PAYNE has now received $3,000 from Kohl's, $7,500 for visiting talk shows, a Walt Disney World vacation worth $7,500, VIP passes to the Fan Expo Dallas and (wait for it) $400-thousand dollars in scholarships for her children. The diehard Target shopper went into the big box store to buy yoga pants, but left with wookie toy and made a funny video that's racked up over 150-million views! (Lee)
Losers in Lockup:
Ego will be their undoing every time. DOMINYK ANTONIO ALFONSECA, who's 23, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, handed the teller at the local Townebank a note and demanded money. Police caught up with him about 20 minutes after the robbery, which gave him plenty of time to post pics and video of his score on Instagram. He uploaded a pic of the robbery note and two videos that he took during the actual robbery. He told police that he did not rob the bank but "asked the teller for money."
"I don't know how I'm a robber, because I asked for it. She could have said no, and I could have left. The way I see it is, by law I might be guilty, but my logic I'm not. I feel like I'm innocent by logic," says Alfonseca.
He did it all in the name of street cred, hoping that JAY-Z or LIL WAYNE would see him and give him a break in the music industry when he gets out in less than three years. He's also perfectly fine with his sentence. "I'm on vacation. I'll do my little push ups, my sit ups, my crunches and I'll be alright. Read a couple books gain some knowledge I'll be alright I'm okay with it," he says. (Myers)Broadcast, cable and video news:
MADONNA will be showing up along with PRESIDENT OBAMA on tomorrow night's (Thursday's) edition of "The Tonight Show Starring JIMMY FALLON." It'll be Obama's first time on the show since Jimmy Fallon took over as host.
Madonna has been on as recently as Apr 09 of last year (2015), to perform her single, "Bitch, I'm Madonna."Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
A band you've never heard of called THE GOOD ENGLISH was supposed to play five shows in Brooklyn, New York, this weekend. But, Gothamist says the all-sister trio from Oakwood, Ohio, find themselves not working because drummer LESLIE RASMUSSEN wrote a letter to Judge AARON PERSKY sticking up for convicted rapist BROCK TURNER. Leslie has known Brock since they were kids and agreed with his father that (quote), "20 minutes of action" could ruin the rest of Brock's life. Leslie also blamed the victim, and that's what made a lot of people angry. Each of the four venues where The Good English was booked started to get complaints and eventually all of the shows were canceled. One of the bars, Matchless, said (quote), "We do not support victim blaming or rape apologists of any kind."
Last night, Leslie posted this on the band's Facebook page: "I was asked by a court in California to provide a character statement as a standard and necessary part of the sentencing process. I believe that Brock's character was seriously affected by the alcohol he consumed, and I felt that the court needed to consider this issue during their sentencing deliberations." The responses were brutal. (Marino) -
