DONALD TRUMP and his running mate MIKE PENCE are reportedly traveling to disaster-stricken Louisiana today. About 40-thousand homes in and around Baton Rouge, LA, had seen damage from the flooding and more than 70-thousand people had registered for FEMA assistance, according to the White House.
Homeland Security Secretary JEH JOHNSON visited the area yesterday to review the scene after PRESIDENT OBAMA declared it a federal disaster area on Sunday. (Pacelli)
BERNIE SANDERS is looking to jump back in the spotlight again. He'll address supporters on August 24the to tout "Our Revolution," a new organization intended to harness the energy of his supporters and help progressive political candidates across the country.
That address will come from Ripley Manor in Washington, D.C., and will also air live at more than 2,000 organizing meetings nationwide, according to a Sanders press release. He said, "During our campaign we assembled a movement of millions of people ready to fight for the country we know we can become... Now it's time for all of us to get to work. At this meeting, I and others will lay out some of the next steps we can take as a movement to empower a wave of progressive candidates this November and win the major upcoming fights for the values we share."
