Christmas Office Parties:
Yes, it's THAT time again, and Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc, offers some guidelines for partygoers:
--Arrive early: This could be your best chance to talk with senior executives while things are still quiet.
--Work the room: Use the occasion to meet people in other departments -- you never know who can help your career.
--Do not over-indulge: Free alcohol can quickly lead to excessive drinking. Stay in control. You do not want to do anything embarrassing to you --or your employer. Even if your alcohol-induced actions do not get you fired, they could hurt your chances for advancement.
--Be friendly, but not too friendly: The company party is not the place to try out your latest pick-up lines. Such behavior could easily be seen as sexual harassment.
--Avoid talking business: This is not the right time to approach your boss with a new business idea. Save that for Monday morning.Fashion Emergency:
Olympic gold medalist SIMONE BILES can do back flips on a balance beam --but says high heels "are like a new sport for me." Simone told the Hollywood Reporterthat she fell down the stairs at the MTV Video Music Awards and that she has fallen down at basketball games in heels. Simone said she hasn't had much practice and is just learning to walk in heels because she spends most of her time in bare feet or sneakers. (Bartha)
Stars and their movies:
Actor KIRK DOUGLAS turns 100 years old today and will be celebrating at an afternoon tea party for 150 or so close friends and associates that his son, MICHAEL, and his wife, CATHERINE ZETA-JONES, are throwing for him.
Deadline also reports Kirk and his wife of 62 years, ANNE BUYDENS DOUGLAS, have gotten together and written a book called "KIRK AND ANNE: Letters of Love, Laughter, and a Lifetime in Hollywood," which will be published next May. The book will feature stories of their courtship and their secrets to longevity in their marriage, which is still going strong. It also contains stories of their contemporaries and from numerous film sets and dinner parties they've attended or given as well.
Kirk has managed to do 87 movies during his lengthy career, which began in 1946, and has been nominated for three Oscars, for 1949's "Champion," 1952's "The Bad and the Beautiful," and "Lust for Life" in 1956, but his most famous movie is arguably 1960's "Spartacus."Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
TAYLOR SWIFT dropped a new single last night. "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" features ex-ONE DIRECTION member ZAYN, and the track is from the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker." You can buy the track now on iTunes. (Marino)
