ELLEN DeGENERES says gospel singer and pastor KIM BURRELL will not be appearing on her show today.
Kim was supposed to show up to perform "I See a Victory," the track she contributed to the "Hidden Figures" soundtrack with PHARRELL WILLIAMS however, she was apparently cancelled because of homophobic comments she made during a recent sermon, calling homosexuality "perverted" and an "embarrassment."
That resulted in fans demanding that Ellen cancel her appearance along with a Change.org petition and more backlash. In a now-deleted Facebook Live video, she defended herself and claimed she had to "do what God tells me to do. I make no excuses or apologies."
"Hidden Figures" stars OCTAVIA SPENCER and JANELLE MONáE are still scheduled to appear on today's show. As for Burrell, in a now-deleted Facebook Live video, she defended herself and claimed she had to "do what God tells me to do. I make no excuses or apologies." -
