Culture Shock:
Yesterday was protest day for millions of immigrant workers across the US.
"A Day Without Immigrants" was supposed to show what the country would be like without immigrants. There were marches in many cities across the country, and reports that restaurants in Austin, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Philadelphia, Des Moines, New Jersey, North Carolina, Boston, Chicago, and New York either closed or reduced service to show solidarity and support for immigrant staff members.Meanwhile, there's another protest being set up for women --a general strike on Wed, Mar 08. The same group which set up the Women's March on Washington in protest of DONALD TRUMP's presidency said yesterday that "A Day Without A Woman" will take place on International Women's Day.
Trash talk and satellite dish:
A minor mishap isn't enough to keep HARRISON FORD from taking to the friendly skies. Nope, photographers for TMZ.com spotted the action star behind the wheel of a Cessna 680 at Santa Monica Airport yesterday, despite the fact that he accidentally landed on the taxiway --not the runway-- over at John Wayne Airport on Monday. How about a musical about basketball? Billboard.com says, THE ROOTS whose day job is house band for NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," have written "The Evolution of Greatness" which tracks the history of the NBA since 1950. There will be a full performance of the show before the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans on Sunday. "Hamilton's" DAVEED DIGGS will be part of the show, along with DJ JAZZY JEFF and DARRYL "DMC" McDANIELS. CBS "Late Show" bandleader JON BATISTE will sing the national anthem with NIKKI YANOFSKY doing the honors for Canada. TNT will have it all, including tomorrow's All-Star Saturday night featuring DNCE and DJ KHALED. (Marino)
