Pilot news:
Believe it or not... "The Greatest American Hero" could be coming back to TV... with a female star!
Deadline says ABC could be rebooting the superhero series which originally starred WILLIAM KATT, ROBERT CULP and CONNIE SELLECA and ran from 1981-83 on the network.
On the series, William Katt played a mild-mannered teacher named Ralph, who inherited a super-suit from a bunch of aliens that gave him superhuman abilities... except he lost the instructions. He gets teamed up with an FBI agent and together, they try to save the world... bit by bit.
In the series reboot, the suit will go to Meera, a 30-year-old Indian-American woman from Cleveland whose talents include tequila drinking, karaoke and not much else. No word on any co-star, yet, and if you were wondering, "Believe It or Not" went to the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1981 --36 years ago.School daze:
Schools have seriously lost their minds when it comes to rules and "no tolerance" policies.
Havelock Academy in Grimsby, England, sent to two students into isolation (in-school suspension) because their hair was TOO SHORT. Two MALE students.
Both JACK, who's 12, and HARRY, who's 13, were told they will remain in isolation until their hair grows back. Harry's mom said she will keep him home for the four weeks it would take his hair to grow back and Jack's mom took him BACK to the barber to have it blended and let him back into class! "They allowed him back into normal lessons but ironically it's actually shorter now," she said.See both boys haircuts here. (Myers)May the corn be with you:
A farmer in Indiana has created the ultimate corn maze for "Star Wars" fans.
JEREMY GOEBEL of Evansville used a GPS to plan out the shape of his maze: a perfect outline of CARRIE FISHER as PRINCESS LEIA. He created the design shortly after Fisher's death, then planted the corn in April. The result resembles the version of the princess from the 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope, complete with her trademark circular hairstyle. The corn also spells out: "Carrie Fisher RIP 1956-2016."
Goebel says he's a longtime fan who wanted "to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher." The corn maze opens to the public this weekend. (Still)Hurricane Irma:
When the Waffle House shuts down, that's when FEMA knows you're in trouble. The restaurants are famous for being open around the clock no matter what the weather.
The Miami Heraldsays the Federal Emergency Management Agency actually uses the closure of Waffle House restaurants as an indicator of how quickly a community is likely to spring back after a hurricane. They call it the Fugate Waffle House Index.
It's an informal color coded map developed by FEMA director CRAIG FUGATE:
--Green indicates a Waffle House is serving a full menu and has electricity.
--Yellow means there is a limited menu, low food supplies and possibly running on a generator.
--Red means the Waffle House has closed. Waffle Houses in Florida closed based in evacuation orders.
Since there are not many Waffle Houses in Miami, Fugate suggested using Cuban coffee stands for that area. (Bartha) -
