Country Music's Out-Of-Control Teen Drunks!
July 29, 2011
Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Anyone on Music Row reading the news about a growing number of arrests at Country music shows?
Anyone see the story about a 19-year-old with a fake ID nearly beaten to death at a Tim McGraw show near Boston? Anyone see where 60 underage drinkers arrested at N.Y. state Paisley show?
It's nothing new ... the near-murder is a bonus story to the rest, but last year at Darien Lake someone was found dead in the nearby pond.
The police chief in Mansfield, Mass. says Country shows used to be easy. Now they are not. Big problems in the parking lots. Any comments from the artists or anyone putting on the shows? Nope.
I watched drunk after drunk taken out of an Aldean/Paisley show last year at Gillette Stadium. Even Taylor Swift's show had arrests for underage drinking. Is this going on everywhere? Forty-four arrested at a Sawyer Brown lake party last week in Alabama. Every arrest had a booze component.
Songs about booze ... booze sponsors ... no one wants to speak on this ... too much money involved.
The Wall Street Journal in early July did a story: The Taming of the Fans 7/8/11. Very interesting reading.
Some Country big shots better stay aware. A year or more ago, a teen girl died after attending a Chesney tailgate bash near Boston. Car wreck. Major story and tragedy. At some tour stops the situation is nearly out of control. (for sure, Darien Lakes, NY) Just saying ... Drunken morons have never been a great fun to be around.
The heat means beer sales. No shortage of either this year. Drunks in the parking lot before the show is getting standard. Boston and upstate N.Y. keeping cops busy. Pop got shows banned in the '90s . Hmm
Heat index of 109 ... 111 ...108 for shows with Rascal Flatts, Chesney and Paisley. Can't imagine. Tim McGraw says he likes the heat.
See the parking prices for some of these Country shows? Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City ... $27 cash only ... multiply that times 10,000 (25 to 30 thousand attend) near a quarter-million just for parking ... whoa!
The Country Music Hall of Fame doubling in size ... great news!
Eric Church at the top of the CD charts this week is a fantastic thing for many people. Capitol/EMI has patience and it paid off. EC is not an overnight success. Good things come to those who wait!
NBCs "The Voice" had wannabees around the block in downtown Nashville at 5a Friday. Auditions around the country in August ... Google "The Voice."
The road is blazing...Summer two-thirds over ... What will August bring?
