My first internship was at WLOL in Minneapolis. This was the beginning of my radio molding. What a gift the learning experience I took away from this outlet was, and still is. Along with a Pointer Sister album, lots of pizza meals and a white "Get Me Up" sweatshirt that I still have, I gained some key 'real world' traits as well.
My oldest daughter has just began her first college internship, at an art gallery in Manhattan. She's pounding the same pavement her parents have for many years. She tells me about all the different people she meets, the art she gets to categorize and reminds me how expensive the city is. This is a female run gallery and the owner is, well, very artsy, to be trite. She's not unique as her emotions run with the wind like many females do. And like the smarter gals she stocks her immaculately clean refrigerator with three (and only three) of her most essential needs; bottled Evian, bottled sparkling water and white wine. Great training for my kid, huh?!

Valentine's is the third biggest gift-giving holiday; Christmas and Mother's Day rank above it. The average person will spend $125.00 on Valentine's Day. Budget shoppers debate whether a kiss is just a kiss.
