I recently checked out a few shops up the street from my studio in Buckhead, Georgia. This area is a good combination of high end meets hole in the wall. In fact, this one dress store, called Samba, was located next to a bar called "The Hole in the Wall."
When a woman enters a clothing store she's usually given the once over by the staff. They check her out to see if she's a shopper, and judge what she's about by what she's wearing. Think Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. So, I must have not passed the test, because every other customer in this store was getting attention but me. I'm wearing jeans, cowboy boots, a tank top with a fitting jacket from H&M, and a scarf. I did my hair and makeup simple for a Saturday, too. I think I look like every other woman shopping (sans the little girl named Parker) but still, I don't even get a "hello" or a smile. Now, I'm trying to engage the saleswomen, but they must have their radar on and can see right into my purse, knowing that I have no money and that I'm just looking. Too bad, 'cause the next time I'm fully funded and ready to shop I'll go elsewhere.
