Waiting Room

A doctors waiting room brings much prep. I'm sitting waiting for my daughter while she has a "procedure," a word I really dislike. The waiting room consistently shifts through a cast of characters. There are elderly gentlemen wearing wraparound sunglasses that remind me of my grandfather; spunky grandma types; tall, thin well dress women with too much jewelry on; a sweatshirt clad mom with toddlers in tow; and nurses sporting every type of accent.
No one seems happy to be here, the smile comes on the exit. The women in the room seem to know more about their insurance coverage, and they are antsy or overly mothering. A man named Alan Haley just provided the best sound so far, he's planted in the middle of the waiting room and calls another doctors office, proceeds to tell "Loretta" all about his hip replacement surgery and gives his address and social security number. I guess he's not concerned with identity theft.
A blaring Doobie Brothers ring tone jolts everyone out of their trance as the recipient of this call proceeds to give his name, address and a credit card number. I exchange glances with every women in this room as this happens. I know you're thinking we all gave each other eye rolls in response to the foolishness we are hearing. Instead I see looks of concern. This game just changed from waiting room etiquette to a concern for safety. She Buzz Words

She can wear her favorite jeans, before, during, and after she has a baby. Denim Therapy will put in and then take out side panels so they will grow with her belly. It costs about $12 per pair, which is a lot cheaper than maternity wear. www.denimtherapy.com/maternity-jeans
The DIGNI-tee is a hospital gown that snaps on the sides; she might prefer this while in labor. www.ivwear.comShe fact
