This is the last week for voter registration. The importance and responsibility we have as United States citizens is fair game. Not voting should not be an option. The last picture in my oldest daughters baby book is of her at age 18 standing in front of voting machine just before she placed her first vote of many. It's easy to complain, but really, how can you make grievances if you don't at least vote? The amount of people able to vote is such a staggeringly larger amount then those who show up at the polls. According to the CNN election center 125,225,901 people voted in the 2008 election. 66,882,230 voted for Barack Obama, and 58,343,671 voted for John McCain. 23 million young voters between the ages of 18-29 voted in the 2008 presidential election, up 3 million from the 2004 election (source: Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement).
