Women are know to be the main caregiver in their family. When she is down for the count the family has options. Either help her get back up or punt. It's horrible for a woman to be sick and to know that she can do nothing for her family, especially if there is a need. If a surgery is planned she is able to enlist help but when the flu takes her down it's almost easier if everyone is a sick as she is. Then they can all camp out on bed and eat jello together. Women are notorious for not recognizing signs of sickness within themselves. I had one friend that was literally rolling out cookie dough with a right arm hurting so bad she she wanted to cry. She ended up having a heart attack on Christmas morning that made her family cry, no one cared at all about the cookies. Encouraging her to recognize symptoms and to nip illness in the butt when it happens be it a cold or a pulled muscle could one of the best gifts she heads into the season with.

As she evaluates her finances there are a few year-end tips that could have her saving come tax time. If she delays any income until the New Year, she also delays the tax, thus giving her more disposable funds. Home upgrades can save on energy, utility bills, and can qualify as a tax credit. She can update all her records, making sure any changes are intact, such as the birth of a baby. If she's a homeowner and if she can afford it, paying her mortgage ahead a month or two will allow an extra deduction.
