It's George Washington's birthday. We remember our first President of the United States as a strong leader. In an attempt to avoid the wooden teeth and cherry pie jokes, let's take a quick look at the woman who baked his birthday cake. Martha Washington was good, loyal house wife; she always stayed by George Washington's side. When in Valley Forge, she helped tend for soldiers that were wounded or dying, or were starving to death, or had been frost-bitten.
Martha Washington is also considered the First Lady of the United States. Shortly after her husband's death, she released any remaining slaves that they had to their freedom. Thanks for setting the tone Martha and George.
