Winning in the hallways of your station really increases the ability for on-air greatness. When the team supports one another, and I mean really supports one another, it gives talent the necessary support of feeling, well, like talent. When stations fall prey to the critique instead of the on air product, it's a slow fade. Program directors should be empowered. Remarks like "How come we play the same song over and over," does not help a PD, it shows an unnecessary focus. Come on...we are dealing with short attention span theater, PPM and research. I can't ever remember challenging the heavy rotation of a agency spot like Pepsi. Checking in the last time a perceptual was done or asking what the test results were is a much better approach provided your able to understand the communication. The playground rules she teaches her kids should carry over to these hallways.
The same rule applies in her life, asking if 'that's her favorite outfit because she wears it so often' might not garner the same reactions as "I love when you wear that, It looks so good on you."
