My actor friend Lenny frequently attends many theater productions. He always purchases a t-shirt from shows he did not like. It's a great way to begin a chat. We were at a barbecue, he was wearing a "Annie" shirt (currently on Broadway starring Kirsten Wyatt) and the first thing I asked was what did you think of that show?" This is how I found out about his unique way of dissing something. It does seem odd to support a show you do not like by purchasing product with hard earned money and then advertising it by actually wearing the shirt. But hey, it made for great conversation. For the next 30 minutes we talked about shows we hated and how The Public Theater is really the place to see the most intelligent intriguing shows right now. What a conundrum this is. Some people can only dream of seeing a Broadway show, some actors will do anything to be in one and here we are critiquing million dollar productions. I'm torn when I think about him wearing a radio station t-shirt. A good looking guy wearing call letters could come in handy, for the right reason of course. And no matter how much radio has changed a t-shirt is a premium item. So wear your logo proudly, look for it on the street and praise those who do some free advertising for you. And if you run into Lenny, give him a station to wear, from what I know signage is at a premium as well and this could be free advertising.
