in this season of chill, snow, and ice, fireplaces and fire pits are happening. This is one of the top reasons She may be calling the fire house, or so I'm told from a listener who was just coming off his ten hour shift as a community fire house dispatcher. I'm grateful for my Girl Scout experiences in remembering how to start building a fire with kindling and move on from there. And I'm grateful to have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen and near my fire pit, just in case. My kids googled how to properly build a fire, then watched a how-to YouTube. I remembered back to being a "Brownie," selling Trefoil cookies and saying the Juliet Low pledge. Now, I am finding great comfort in the fact that my oldest daughter's boyfriend, Nick, is an Eagle Scout, and proud of it. It's almost comforting to know that he has some hands on skills that don't involve an electronic device. Wow, did I just turn into MY mother?
