I was at the Museum of Natural History in New York, now lovingly known as the place Ben Stiller's Night at the Museum took place. My reasoning for being there was for my teen who has an interest in Psychology and wanted to see their new Brain exhibit. As we were waiting in line for the guided tour numerous school kids, I'm guessing first grade level, came barreling past us- and I mean barreling. So much so that I got knocked over into someone else (a stately old man who was visiting from Brussels). The chaperone for these kids was running behind her charges exasperated. We walked into the brain where sparking wires were strung around to represent the neurons inside a brain. This experience was out commissioned to a artist who gave this introduction a dark, eerie spark feel. I really wanted to enjoy all it had to offer except another group of school children came and pushed their way past our tour guide Dottie ( the sweetest little woman from Brooklyn who discussed blood vessels and the pickle she had with her sandwich at lunch). These school kids were clearly excited about this field trip however, their lack of decorum brought about many a heavy sigh.
Of course, our little tour group group that happened to be sandwiched in the entry to this exhibit. Strollers must have doubled in size since my kids were young because the womeN who were trying to push through had strollers the size of a kids amusement park rides. By the way, nothing amusing about the pushing and shoving and the interruption. I totally empathize with both sides; the museum guest who came for the knowledge sans kids for whatever reason and the mom who brings baby everywhere, loaded down with snacks and a few more kids. I will clear a path, even help lift a stroller up a flight of stairs; I have been there and done that and it ain't easy. That being said, I am actually rejoicing in the fact that I have been there and done that. My stroller of choice now it the one I push throughout the produce section at my grocery store. She buzz words
